9000 IN METAVERSE by Vesa Loikas and Maria Nurmela examines how the concept of humanism transforms in a posthumanist era as the human body and identity fragment into hybrid layers of digital spaces, movement, photography, and sound—presented as part of the Digital (Dis)embodiments group exhibition curated by Shashank Satish at the Arts and Media Lab, Queen's University (January 12-16, 2026), where audiences can experience the work through virtual reality and explore how embodied agency operates within metaverse environments.

DIGITAL (DIS)EMBODIMENTS

Curated by Shashank Satish

The Art and Media Lab will showcase the ‘Digital (Dis)embodiments’ group exhibition curated by the Screen Cultures and Curatorial Studies PhD student, Shashank Satish. The two-part exhibition, developed over two years, investigates the idea of the body in the digital world through a web-based exhibition and a Virtual Reality experience.

Digital (Dis)embodiments explores how the human form is reimagined within virtual landscapes, where identity is untethered from the physical body and continuously reshaped. The show investigates the reconstructed and reconfigured rendering of the anthropomorphic form within virtual landscapes, inviting the audience to reflect on the artist’s embodied agency in crafting new digital bodies.
