The VoxFemina working group invites all diverse women to explore interdisciplinary collaboration! In the workshop, we encounter each other at the crossroads of multidisciplinary arts, opening our voices through various narratives, movements, and metaphors.

The workshop delves into artistic methods that the VoxFemina working group, consisting of women artists of different ages, has used in creating their performance art piece. The methods include embodiment, creative dance, movement improvisations, visual arts, storytelling, and spoken text.

We also explore sound, focusing on the sounds of space and our bodies. Starting from embodiment, we creatively move from one artistic domain to another. The workshop aims to increase body awareness, inspire working with new forms of expression, and find ways to present one's own voice and thoughts.

Participants in the workshop do not need previous experience in artistic work. Welcome with an open mind to dive into the creative and experiential world of art!

VoxFemina is a long-term project that includes both performance pieces and multidisciplinary workshops. The project emerged during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 when the first version of the performance piece VoxFemina - Women's Voice was presented at the Tehdasfestivaali Manifesti. The project's team consists of women artists of different ages representing various art forms.

In March 2023, VoxFemina's second performance piece, VoxFemina / Feral Polyphony 2023, premiered. It combines embodiment, contemporary dance, spoken theater, visual arts, new music, and stand-up comedy. The piece explores themes of the many forms of femininity, changing identities, the longing for freedom, and societal rituals. The performance will be presented in Turku on January 19-20, 2023.
